Gift ideas for everyone on your shopping list

The holidays will soon be upon us, and there’s no time like the present (pun attended) to get started on the shopping.

Here’s our list of gift ideas to wow the ones you love this Christmas!

Self-care for her (or him). Everyone deserves to be pampered with an aromatherapy candle, slippers and sleep mask, facial kit and bathrobe.

Sweet delights. Tuck gourmet hot chocolate, coffee or tea into a handmade pottery mug, place into a poly bag and top with locally made candy and chocolates.

Make it a movie night. Fill a large bowl with pop, popcorn and seasonings, chips and movie theatre-sized candy boxes. Add some DVDs or a gift card for a streaming service. It’s perfect for family nights in all winter long.

Caffeine fix. For the coffee lover in your life, think about gourmet beans, a grinder, a fun mug (regular or to-go), and a milk frother. Don’t forget a gift card to their favourite local coffee bar. If you have a tea granny on your list, swap the beans for tea leaves or bags, and the grinder for a teapot or kettle. There are also great local tea shops that can supply what you need.

Give the gift of reading. Books never go out of style. Check out the plethora of local authors that serve up fiction and non-fiction for all ages.

Games galore. Games have never been more popular. Your local game store can show you what’s new and classic in the gaming world for players of all ages. Give a game with some snacks and drinks to make it an event. Puzzles are also a great gift and provide hours of entertainment.

Fun with fish. Set up a sushi lover with a bamboo rolling mat, sushi rice, vinegar and seaweed. Toss in a gift card to the local fish market to find the fresh ingredients to make sushi at home.

Let’s go outside. For the outdoorsy types in your life, consider a flashlight or headlamp, sleeping bag, lantern, waterproof socks, fishing lures, sunglasses or water bottles.

For the cook. Consider gourmet oils and vinegars, fine spices and quality kitchen tools. Tuck them into oven mitts or wrap them in cute dish towels or an apron.

Garden fun. A pretty plant makes a great gift for novice and pro gardeners. Also think about plant pots, seeds, grow lights, watering cans, gardening gloves and gardener’s hand lotion.
