Jillian’s Design Elements Knows Home
Located in Moose Jaw’s historic downtown, Jillian’s Design Elements is a must-do stop when redecorating or renovating your home. If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that home is our haven and our soft place to land, and it should feel good to be there. Owner Jillian Bookout and her team are ready to help you make home feel like “home.”
“Whether you’re looking to freshen up one room with a few changes, such as art, rugs and cushions, or start from a scratch with a new build or major renovation, we can help guide you through the myriad of choices you need to make,” says Jillian.
Jillian’s Design Elements is a full-serve interior design firm, boutique and showroom that offers a plethora of design and décor options, furniture and more. “Our store has everything from art, home decor and furniture to purses, jewelry and giftware,” says Jillian. “Our in-house design service can guide your home decorating project with consultations on everything from paint colour to major home renovations.”
Getting started on a new look for your space shouldn’t be a stressful experience, and Jillian has advice to make the process both fun and easy. She suggests starting a ‘style file’ of ideas, products, colours and other inspirations you like. “Pulling together looks you like will help narrow the choices you make and help determine what look you’re going for,” she says. After that, you can start building your plan, and she is more than happy to provide advice that works for your budget and overall goals.
If you’re looking for summer décor ideas to liven up a space now, Jillian says organic textures are a major trend at the moment. “We’re seeing beautiful natural textures and lots of real and faux plants and foliage to create a light and airy look,” she says. “White is the hottest color right now, for paint and decor. We are seeing white paired with linen, grey, cognac and black in furniture and finishing material. For spring and summer, we see pops of blush, navy and green accents and of course lots of gold.” She is also seeing growing interest in locally made décor and furniture. The boutique offers a wide selection of custom furniture options, with most made in Canada. “Because our showroom floor isn’t that large, people don't realize how much furniture we offer,” says Jillian. “Our options are vast so you can truly design the perfect room for your home.”
