The Best Place is Home

The Best Place is Home

Jillian’s Design Elements brings style and function together—beautifully.

Considering a new look for your space? When we’re thinking about how we can revamp a room or our whole home, the first thought is often renovations. However, before you get out the sledgehammer, sit down and plan on how you want your home to look. “It’s easy to get excited about changing up a space but it can also be overwhelming once you get started,” says Jillian Bookout, owner at Jillian’s Design Elements in Moose Jaw. “Planning for everything, including your furniture and décor, will make all the difference in a renovation or redecorating project.”

Furniture is not only in a room to be functional. It’s also there to be stylish, comfortable and inviting. “Furniture makes up a huge part of the look and use of a space,” says Jillian. “Making the right decision on what to buy and where to put it is key when redesigning.” She advises to consider what you like—colours, styles, patterns, fabrics and more—and what you’re going to use it for. Do you have pets and small children? Looking at defender fabrics that are spill and stain resistant would be a great option for your furniture. Are you a busy professional that loves to entertain with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres? You’re probably going to want to pass on overstuffed reclining couches. “Planning before a purchase is always the best idea. We can help you find the pieces that will look great and fit your life and space,” says Jillian.

She also says that furniture and décor can do double duty in many spaces. Making choices that can work in more than one room can add both function and style. A tea cart can display family photos most of the time but can also become a mobile bar cart for a special occasion. A basket can hold fresh flowers during the spring and summer and become a holder for mittens in the winter in the foyer. “When you find pieces you love, we can help you find ways to use them in many more ways than you thought,” she says.

Beyond the expert design advice, Jillian’s Design Elements is also one-of-a-kind boutique and showroom in Moose Jaw’s beautiful downtown. Stocked with Canadian-made furniture that can be customized for every room in the house (and much more), Jillian and her team can help you find the pieces you need to make your home incredible. “We have everything from art, home decor and furniture to purses, jewelry and giftware,” says Jillian. “Our in-house design service can guide your home decorating project with consultations on everything from paint colour to major home renovations.”
