The Splendour of the Valley

Lumsden Calls

Just a hop, skip and a jump north of Regina is one of the jewels of our province – the Qu’Appelle Valley. Nestled within that beautiful landscape is the town of Lumsden. This friendly, vibrant community is chock full of places to explore and events to enjoy year-round.

The town’s James Street is the centre of it all, and it’s a beautiful stroll through the heart of the community. There are several places to stop for a snack, a drink or a meal, and boutiques, salons and galleries, and even a distillery to check out.

The RiverPark Campground offers excellent camping with ball diamonds, a playground, spray pad and 18-hole disc golf course. Plus, the TransCanada trail runs right through it!

Lumsden Historical Museum is a must-see stop, with historic buildings from the community, including the Forest Church, Tregarva Hall, Kedleston School and Hunter House. The Lumsden Historical Museum has household items, sports memorabilia, photos, collectibles and a history of the Lumsden area to take in, plus early farm machinery to view.

Just down the road from Lumsden is a row of market gardens to find incredible locally grown fresh vegetables all summer long, and plenty of pumpkins in the fall.

Nearby in the hills is an organic orchard and winery, growing fruit like Prairie cherries, Georgian peaches, Arkansas blackberries, French strawberries, and grapes sourced from Europe and California. You’ll find amazing dining and drinking experiences with incredible views of the valley.

You’ll also find a working farm nearby with a petting zoo, hayrides and farm tours for the whole family, as well as a local corn maze and market that comes alive in the fall for a fun day out.

The town is also home to fantastic events worth a trip. The Lumsden Scarecrow Festival runs September 28, 2024. This one-day family-friendly event features scarecrow displays throughout the town, along with a barbeque challenge, street market, car show and fireworks.

Whether you spend an afternoon, a whole day or the weekend, Lumsden is worth the drive.
