A new chapter for a trusted clinic

A new chapter for a trusted clinic

Regina pet owners are invited to experience Prairie Animal Health Centre’s new facility and compassionate care in nearby Weyburn

After more than 30 years serving Weyburn and the surrounding area, Prairie Animal Health Centre (PAHC) has officially opened the doors to its brand-new clinic at 327 5th Street NW. The 9,500-square-foot facility represents a major investment in animal health and a commitment to providing exceptional care for decades to come.

Now, with construction complete and the team settled into its new home, Prairie Animal Health Centre is welcoming both long-time clients and new visitors, including pet owners from Regina who are looking for trusted, personalized veterinary care just a short drive away.

“It’s about making sure we can deliver the quality care people expect for their animals,” says Dr. Greg Douglas, owner partner and veterinarian. “Our clients love and care deeply for their pets and livestock, and they deserve a facility that supports that.”

Built for comfort and capacity

The new clinic was designed from the ground up with animals and their owners in mind. One of the biggest improvements is the jump from three exam rooms to eight, dramatically increasing the centre’s capacity for small animal care.

With more space and better workflow, the team can reduce wait times and spend more time focusing on each patient.

The facility also expanded the clinic’s ability to provide advanced treatment. Two surgical suites allow multiple procedures to happen at once, improving access to both urgent and scheduled care. A dedicated radiology suite houses modern diagnostic tools including AI-enhanced imaging and ultrasound.

Dental care is another growing focus. The new clinic includes a larger dental treatment area designed specifically for preventive and restorative care for pets.

Designed for less stress and better care

Anyone who has taken a nervous pet to the vet understands how stressful the experience can be. The new PAHC facility includes several design features aimed at making visits calmer and more comfortable.

Separate exam rooms and kennel wards for cats and dogs allow the team to tailor care and reduce stress for their patients. Since moving into the new facility, the PAHC team has already noticed a difference. Pets that previously experienced anxiety during visits are arriving calmer and more relaxed.

Clients and patients alike are enjoying the brighter, more open space. The thoughtful design allows the veterinary team to focus less on logistics and more on what matters most, providing attentive, high-quality care for every animal that walks through the door.

“We want pets and their families to feel comfortable the moment they arrive,” says Greg. “Our team works hard to create a welcoming experience every time.”

Outside, a specially designed treatment area for horses improves comfort and safety during large animal visits. Livestock producers also benefit from convenient highway access and improved trailer parking.

Worth the drive from Regina

While Prairie Animal Health Centre has deep roots in Weyburn, the clinic serves clients from across southern Saskatchewan. For many Regina pet owners, the drive to Weyburn takes about an hour, making it a simple trip for quality veterinary care.

“Healthy animals mean a healthy community,” says Greg. “Our job is to support that by providing the best care we can. I’m so proud of our staff—they’re the heart of this clinic. They work tirelessly to make this a great place for our patients, our clients and each other.”

For pet owners who want a clinic that takes the time to know their animals and their families, the short trip can make all the difference.

Attracting new veterinary talent

The clinic’s partners, Dr. Greg Douglas, Dr. Jeremy Ross and Dr. Carol Ross, also saw the new building as an opportunity to attract veterinary professionals to southern Saskatchewan.

“A great community deserves great veterinary care,” says Greg. “This facility gives veterinarians the tools and space they need to provide exceptional service.”

That investment is already helping the clinic grow. Dr. Jena Thue has joined the PAHC team, bringing additional expertise and helping the practice serve its expanding client base.

Supporting the community for decades to come

The expansion reflects how closely animal health connects with community wellbeing. By supporting livestock producers, the clinic strengthens local agriculture. By caring for pets, it helps nurture the bonds between families and their animals.

Now open and welcoming visitors, Prairie Animal Health Centre invites pet owners from across southern Saskatchewan, including Regina, to experience its new facility and compassionate approach to care.
