Discover Whole Health Through Varied Healing Modalities
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines health as: the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit.
Some healing modalities view health as a top-down process. This is the theory that many physical ailments show up from imbalances that started in the mind and spirit. When it comes to many alternative therapies, there's a focus on getting to the root of the cause, rather than simply treating the physical symptom, to ensure lasting health. This holistic, multi-faceted approach to health is what's meant when you hear about people treating the whole person.
Both western and eastern medicines have merits, and there is no one “cure for all.” In fact, two people presenting the same symptoms or imbalances may require totally different treatments, with one responding to medication and the other responding to massage. This is not an anomaly. If we understand people have a unique vibrational/energetic code, it then follows that they would respond to different healing methods, which also hold their own energetic stamp.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has acknowledged the importance of traditional, complementary and integrative medicine, and the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014–2023 aims to support WHO Member States in developing proactive policies and implementing action plans that will strengthen the role traditional medicine plays in keeping populations healthy.
As technology advances, so does the number of people who are suffering from depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), self-image issues, eating disorders, and so on. Alternative health practitioners understand healing can be found in looking at the wisdom and teaching of ancient cultures to not only quiet the mind, but to achieve holistic healing.
This does not negate the validity and vast importance of western medicine. Modern technology and medicine can work in harmony with alternative medicine and healing practices to ensure the body, mind and spirit is in a state of harmony. When people see themselves as a multi-faceted and honour what each part of their being requires, they enable themselves to be at their best.
