Smokin’ Outlaws BBQ brings authentic wood-fired barbecue to Regina

What begins as a backyard hobby for Smokin’ Outlaws BBQ owner Mike Arnold quickly grew into something much bigger. After developing a passion for barbecue, Mike started entering competitions, earning wins and building an impressive reputation. Catering followed, then a food truck and eventually the need for a commercial kitchen. When the opportunity arose for a commercial kitchen that had a dining room, Smokin’ Outlaws BBQ took the next step.

The business launched its food truck and catering operation in 2021, then opened its Dewdney Avenue location in June 2025. “It started as something I love doing in the backyard, but once we began competing and winning, it became clear there was anopportunity to share this style of barbecue with more people,”Mike says.

Barbecue done the authentic way

Smokin’ Outlaws BBQ is committed to 100 per cent authentic wood-fired barbecue. No gas, electricity or propane powers the smokers. Instead, pitmasters begin working in the early hours of the morning, placing brisket over real wood and giving it the time and attention it needs. That commitment carries through every part of the business, from competitions to the restaurant and catering service. “We put the same care into every brisket, every rack of ribs and every catered event that we put into competition barbecue,” Mike says. “For us, it has to be done properly.”

The menu features a wide range of barbecue favourites, with brisket and ribs among the must-try choices. Whether guests dine in, order takeout or book catering, the goal is to provide a memorable meal built around smoke, flavour and craftsmanship.

Ready for events of every size

The Smokin’ Outlaws catering team is equipped to handle everything from intimate gatherings to major events. On July 25, the team catered three weddings in three different cities, serving between 150 and 250 guests at each celebration. That comes immediately after three days in Saskatoon, where the team served 5,000 meals for 14 clients at an agricultural event. The company can also coordinate service for multiple groups at once, making it an excellent option for weddings, corporate functions, community gatherings and large public events

Competition flavour close to home Smokin’ Outlaws continues to compete and win at barbecue competitions across North America and around the world. Those experiences help the team sharpen its skills and bring new ideas back to Saskatchewan. Regina diners, however, can skip the road trip and follow the smell of BBQ smoke straight to 2044 Dewdney Avenue for competition-level barbecue close to home. The private room is also available for holiday parties and group celebrations. Early booking is encouraged, especially after the room was double-booked for seatings throughout last year’s holiday season.

Whether the occasion calls for a meal out, takeout or full-service catering, Smokin’ Outlaws BBQ delivers an authentic barbecue experience guests will not soon forget. Smokin’ Outlaws BBQ
