GLOBE THEATRE CELEBRATES 60 YEARS OF STORYTELLING, CONNECTION AND COMMUNITY

Join the celebration and step into the next chapter of Regina’s beloved theatre.

It’s been sixty years of standing ovations, powerful performances and unforgettable stories. The Globe Theatre is celebrating a major milestone and its lasting mark on Regina and the arts across Canada. This fall, the landmark theatre is pulling back the curtain on its diamond anniversary with a spectacular celebration, a bold new season and a renewed vision for the future.

“Sixty years is an extraordinary milestone for any company,” says Oz, executive director at the Globe Theatre. “That’s six decades of telling stories, delighting audiences and creating opportunities for artists and arts workers.”

From its beginnings in 1966 to becoming Saskatchewan’s largest professional theatre company, the Globe has shaped not only Regina’s downtown but also Canada’s broader arts landscape. Its home, MacCorquodale Place, recently underwent a major restoration—more than a decade in the making—and now, it’s time to show it off.

A gala worth the wait

The 60th Anniversary Gala and grand re-opening of MacCorquodale Place promises to be a dazzling evening filled with live music, delicious food and a full house of artists, supporters and community leaders. It all kicks off September 12.

“It’s going to be a monumental evening—celebrating six decades of theatre-making and this incredible restoration,” says Oz. “The building will come alive on every floor. It’ll be a true ‘who’s who’ of Regina.”

The celebration continues with free public programming on September 13 and 14, including drop-in activities and reserved events that welcome everyone into the newly revitalized space.

A season that sparks imagination

Artistic Director Jennifer Brewin leads the way into a new season that reflects the theatre’s energy and ambition. With five new Main Stage productions, the Globe is embracing fresh voices and bold storytelling.

“This season is all about innovation,” says Oz. “It explores community—its tensions, comforts and power to change hearts and minds. The whole place is buzzing.”

Each production aims to inspire and challenge, inviting audiences to reconnect with the magic of live theatre in ways that are vibrant, diverse and deeply human.

More ways to be part of the story

Getting involved with the Globe is easier than ever. A Mainstage Series subscription is an affordable way to enjoy the full season, while pop-up events and special performances throughout the year keep things fresh.

“We’re always looking for volunteers, and our Theatre School has classes for all ages—from kids to adults,” says Oz. “Whether you want to be in the audience or on stage, there’s a place for you.”

The future looks bright for MacCorquodale Place, with plans to keep the building active year-round and the launch of a black box community theatre in spring.

“Our vision is to make the Globe a place where everyone feels welcome,” says Oz. “It’s a true community hub.”

Never been? Now’s the time

“Come as you are—we can’t wait to welcome you,” says Oz. “You might just discover your new favourite genre. Whether you’re a seasoned theatre- goer or brand new to live performance, our team is here to make your visit special. There truly is something for everyone at the Globe Theatre.”
