Globe Theatre Celebrates 60 Years with Community & Spectacle

As the Globe Theatre prepares for its milestone 60th season, community engagement and thrilling productions take centre stage—including the Canadian professional premiere of Bring It On: The Musical.

The countdown is on at the Globe Theatre. The team will soon move back into its newly restored home, marking a major step forward for the organization while it welcomes back excited theatregoers.

As the Globe prepares to announce its highly anticipated 60th season this May, it remains dedicated to engaging with the community in creative and meaningful ways—both inside and outside its iconic space. And with the Canadian professional premiere of Bring It On: The Musical set to open at the end of May, audiences can expect big things from the Globe this spring.

Bringing theatre beyond the stage

As the Globe Theatre gears up for a monumental year, it continues to make an impact both inside and outside the theatre walls. With a commitment to community engagement, the team has been activating non-traditional spaces throughout Regina, bringing theatre to new and unexpected places.

“This work is a huge part of what we do,” says Jennifer Brewin, the Globe’s artistic director. “With Women of the Fur Trade and Steel Magnolias, we’ve been able to connect with the community in meaningful ways, proving that theatre doesn’t always need a stage to tell powerful stories.”

With the company set to move back into its beloved home in just a month, the energy is building. Soon, these community-driven experiences will converge with the magic of live performance inside the newly restored space.

A milestone season ahead

Excitement is growing for the Globe Theatre’s 60th season, which will be officially announced this May. This landmark season promises an inspiring mix of classic and contemporary works, celebrating the theatre’s rich history while looking ahead to an exciting future.

“We’ve spent years preparing for this moment,” says Oz Weaver, executive director. “Our 60th season is a celebration of everything the Globe stands for—innovation, community and unforgettable storytelling.” Though the full lineup remains under wraps for now, audiences can expect a season filled with heart, humour, and high-energy performances.

Bring It On takes the stage in May

Before the new season is unveiled, the Globe Theatre has one more major treat in store—its production of Bring It On: The Musical, opening at the end of May. Inspired by the hit film, this high-energy musical feature music by Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), lyrics by Amanda Green (Hands on a Hardbody), and additional lyrics by none other than Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton).

“This is a show with so much spirit,” says Jennifer. “It’s about teamwork, resilience and chasing big dreams—all themes that resonate deeply with us at the Globe.”

With electrifying choreography, powerful vocals and an uplifting story, Bring It On is set to be a must-see event.

A theatre built for the community

As the Globe Theatre continues its journey back home, the focus remains on creating an inclusive and dynamic space where art and community thrive together. The return to the building signals a new era—one where audiences, artists, and the wider Regina community can share in the magic of live theatre.

“We’re not just reopening a theatre,” says Oz. “We’re creating a space where people feel welcome, where stories come to life and where the power of theatre can be experienced by all.”

With an exciting season ahead, a landmark anniversary to celebrate and bold new productions on the horizon, the Globe Theatre is ready to take its place—once again—at the heart of Regina’s arts scene.
